Seven Charged for Threats, Arson, and Child Abduction Targeting Politicians in Stockholm County

Seven individuals, including five men and two women, have been formally charged with serious crimes directed at politicians and officials in Stockholm County. The charges, filed at Södertörns tingsrätt in Huddinge, encompass a range of grave offenses such as child abduction, severe obstruction of justice, serious threats against officials, arson, and substantial property damage.

Central to the case are three children who were allegedly abducted from their foster homes. Five suspects are accused of abducting and concealing these children, who had been placed in emergency care during the spring. The main suspect, a man in his 40s, faces all charges and is currently in custody in absentia, residing in a country without an extradition treaty with Sweden.

Prosecutor Sara Norling has described the offences as "system-threatening and very serious," emphasizing that the crimes primarily targeted social service officials and elected local politicians with the intent to influence their decision-making. In total, there are 40 victims involved in the case.

The trial for these charges is scheduled to begin on January 23, 2026, at Södertörns tingsrätt.
