Saab's Global Eye System Selected by Canada for Advanced Arctic Defense

Swedish defense company Saab has been chosen by the Canadian government to supply its Global Eye airborne early warning system, a significant decision that excludes competing U.S. bids and underscores Saab's growing influence in high-tech defense exports.

The Global Eye system, based on Bombardier's Canadian-built Global 6500 aircraft, will play a crucial role in enhancing Canada’s airspace surveillance capabilities, particularly against emerging threats such as cruise missiles and hypersonic weapons. Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized the system's importance for protecting the Arctic, highlighting the advanced sensors and mission systems that enable threat detection and deterrence in this strategically vital region.
