A recent survey by Bup Halland reveals significant advancements in the mental health of children one year after initiating treatment with the clinic. The survey, in use for over 15 years and including responses from about 80% of families involved, evaluates symptoms, daily functioning, and the life circumstances of children receiving care. Results demonstrate improvements across all evaluated areas, with the most noteworthy progress seen among children who initially presented with severe psychiatric issues.

Psychologist and researcher Markus Andersson attributes these positive outcomes to enhanced diagnostics and streamlined, more rapid treatment protocols. Bup Halland has pioneered a stratified care approach, enabling immediate psychological treatment for children with urgent needs, while sustaining high diagnostic standards. Notably, the clinic has managed to shorten wait times for ADHD assessments drastically—from as long as one year to now a maximum of two months—ensuring timely interventions.

The organization has also eliminated psychologist vacancies across all four of its clinics, each led by designated psychological leadership, which Andersson credits as a factor in the quality improvements. The comprehensive strategy focuses on providing tailored treatment promptly, which has driven the substantial healing observed in the young patients.
