Power Restoration Progress Underway After Storm Dave in Sweden

Following the impact of Storm Dave over the Easter weekend, Swedish power provider E.ON continues its challenging restoration efforts amid difficult weather conditions. As of April 6, 2026, about 3,060 customers remain without electricity, primarily in Jönköping with 1,239 affected and Kalmar with 936, according to E.ON regional manager Björn Persson. Technicians are working with caution to ensure safety during high winds and darkness, which is causing some delays in repair timelines.

To expedite recovery, helicopters are set to survey critical grid areas in Östergötland and Småland and assist in clearing fallen trees blocking power lines. Persson stressed the importance of the public avoiding downed power lines and reporting any hazards to E.ON.

Storm Dave also led to significant flooding in Uddevalla where a driver was rescued, and caused widespread damage including broken flagpoles and downed streetlights in Lysekil with wind gusts reaching 39.8 m/s. In Skåne, debris and fallen trees have disrupted roads necessitating ongoing cleanup.

About 9,000 electricity subscribers experienced outages mainly in western and southern Sweden, with many restorations anticipated by Monday. Train services between major cities such as Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Karlstad have suffered delays and stoppages due to the storm.

E.ON remains committed to restoring full power as weather conditions improve, likely enabling faster repairs moving forward. The company urges caution and vigilance as recovery work continues across the affected regions.
