Partille Municipality Shows Financial Strength Amid Economic Challenges

As municipalities across Sweden struggle with inflation, rising costs, and extensive investment needs, Partille stands out for its strong economic performance. Between 2023 and 2025, Partille reported financial surpluses each year, signaling revenues exceeding expenses. Remarkably, the municipal tax rate decreased slightly from 19.96% to 19.88% during the current mandate period, making Partille one of only four municipalities in Västra Götaland to reduce taxes, alongside Lerum, Ale, and Orust.

A key indicator of financial health, solidarity—which measures the proportion of municipal assets financed by equity rather than debt—improved from 21% in 2022 to 28.5% in 2025 in Partille. This improvement suggests enhanced resilience against economic downturns and rising interest rates. Compared to neighboring municipalities, Partille shows impressive financial robustness, closely following Härryda, which holds the highest economic result per capita. Meanwhile, nearby Lerum and Göteborg have faced deteriorating economic positions and negative financial results during the same period.

Emelie Värja, chief economist at Sveriges Kommuner och Regioner (SKR), emphasized the importance of strong municipalities like Partille, given the looming investment needs for renovating aging welfare properties and addressing pressures related to water, sewage, climate adaptation, civil defense, and infrastructure. This solid economic footing positions Partille favorably against broader municipal financial vulnerabilities highlighted amid Sweden’s challenging economic climate.
