Pär Palmgren Makes Political Comeback with Kristdemokraterna in Hässleholm

Pär Palmgren, a seasoned politician and former leading Moderate Party member, has re-entered the political arena by joining Kristdemokraterna (KD) in Hässleholm. After a three-year hiatus following internal disputes within the Moderates, Palmgren is set to serve on the technical committee at the upcoming municipal council meeting. His return is seen as a significant development by KD, which hailed his recruitment as a "star" move and a "bomb" in local political debate. Palmgren's decision to switch parties comes after criticizing the previous Moderates' leadership, especially their cooperation with the Social Democrats, which he called "the most incredible cooperation."

He expressed strong commitment to keeping local swimming pools in Tyringe and Bjärnum open, while advocating for selling the recently built Österåsbadet, arguing that a simpler facility would have been more cost-effective. Palmgren supports forming a bourgeois alliance that could include the Moderates and Sweden Democrats, signaling an openness to cross-party collaboration. His extensive experience includes serving as chairman of the municipal council and involvement in managing past political scandals, underscoring his influence within Hässleholm politics. At 73, his comeback underscores KD's strategic aim to attract voters and impact Hässleholm's future governance.

In a press conference, Palmgren shared his enthusiasm for returning to politics, stating, "It feels exciting and, for known reasons, I feel quite at home." This move marks a notable political shift, intensifying discussions about the municipality's direction.
