A Norwegian citizen has been arrested in connection with a double murder in Gothenburg, Sweden. This significant development follows the tragic discovery of two men in their 30s, both shot dead in a rental car in the Lunden district, on Tuesday evening, September 2, 2025. The suspect was apprehended shortly after 1 AM on Wednesday in Oslo, following a police chase that saw him attempting to evade authorities after crossing back into Norway shortly after the murders were reported.

Swedish police had issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on Tuesday evening, and he was tracked down after he attempted to elude customs control at Svinesund. Reports indicate that the suspect is also facing charges in Norway for serious offenses, including threats with a firearm and illegal possession of firearms. Notably, the shooting appears to have links to ongoing gang conflicts in the Biskopsgården area of Gothenburg, where the victims had previous criminal histories.

Witnesses described hearing gunshots and reported seeing a masked individual fleeing the scene on a green electric scooter. The victims were found with gunshot wounds to the head while seated in the front of the vehicle, suggesting that the attack was premeditated and executed from the rear seat.

Following the suspect's arrest, Prosecutor Karin Lindell expressed optimism regarding his extradition to Sweden, pointing out that although this process may be complicated due to the suspect’s citizenship, she believes he will be made available for questioning. "We need him here to be able to question him and so on. But I have good hopes that we will get him," Lindell noted.

This case revives concerns about gang violence in the region, especially as it comes in the wake of another double murder in April, which is also believed to be connected to these criminal networks. Authorities are intensifying their investigations to uncover the full scope of the killings and any potential retaliation from organized crime factions involved.
