Nordvalls has made a strategic investment in RFID technology through its UK subsidiary Watermill, as revealed by Frederick Trip, Key Account Manager at Nordvalls, during the Interpack trade fair. The company has developed proprietary software that integrates label printing with RFID tag data writing, compatible not only with their own machinery but also with other manufacturers'. This innovation comes at a time when RFID technology, despite existing since World War II, is gaining momentum fueled by advancements in smartphones and computers.

Traceability demands across various industries are elevating RFID's significance, although some businesses still perceive it as costly. Trip argues that such views often arise from insufficient cost analyses and highlights the importance of recognizing RFID's potential time and cost savings. Currently, Watermill is scaling up production, with several pilot projects underway, signaling a gradual move toward full-scale application.

While artificial intelligence (AI) adoption is increasing among Swedish businesses, with 38% incorporating it into operations, only 12% report improved profitability, suggesting a learning curve in technological integration and value realization.
