Nordnet Launches Premarket Trading for US Stocks in Sweden

Nordnet introduces premarket trading for US stocks, enhancing opportunities for Swedish investors.

    Key details

  • • Nordnet allows trading of US stocks before the market opens.
  • • Pre-market trading starts at 1:00 PM Swedish time.
  • • Investors can act on real-time market information.
  • • Pre-trading has lower liquidity and higher volatility risks.

Nordnet has unveiled a significant new feature, allowing Swedish investors to trade American stocks before the US market opens. This pre-market trading begins at 13:00 Swedish time, ahead of the regular market opening at 15:30, and positions Nordnet as the first major Swedish platform to offer this capability. Ara Mustafa, an investment coach at Nordnet, emphasized the importance of timing in the stock market, stating that this new feature enables investors to react quickly to real-time information such as market news or social media updates, providing them a competitive edge.

However, Mustafa also cautioned that trading during these pre-market hours can be riskier due to factors such as lower liquidity and higher volatility, as fewer traders participate, which can lead to larger price spreads. Investors should also note that orders placed during this time are valid only for that day and will automatically transition to the regular trading hours if not executed.

Additionally, Nordnet offers the Shareville platform, a social investment network where users can follow and interact with over 500,000 Nordic investors, potentially benefitting from shared insights and strategies. Established in 1996, Nordnet aims to democratize investment opportunities, making the stock market more accessible to all investors in Sweden. This latest feature marks a notable enhancement in tracking and responding to market shifts, crucial for proactive trading strategies.
