The transfer was facilitated by what is known as the 'Bajen clause' in his contract, enabling his exit despite his ongoing rehabilitation from a knee injury.
Vasic, 33, completed his first training session with Hammarby on August 22, 2025, and is optimistic about making his debut in the anticipated derby against Djurgården scheduled for September 14. He stated, "I feel great. I need to be gradually integrated into full training since I haven't been in full training yet." Vasic is currently following a rehabilitation program with the aim to achieve match readiness in three to four weeks.
Acknowledging his excitement for the derby, Vasic described it as a childhood dream: "It’s everything you dream of as a child. To play in Bajen and to play derbies, it’s all plus-plus," he expressed. He also reflected positively on his time at Brommapojkarna, where he won the Allsvenskan top scorer title with 17 goals. Further, he noted the supportive relationship with his former club during his recovery process, stating, "They have been great the whole time and it’s been a good tone. I have nothing but gratitude for them."
As Vasic embarks on this new chapter with Hammarby, he remains focused on his rehabilitation while eagerly anticipating contributing to his new team's success in the upcoming matches.
