Musikhjälpen 2026, Sweden’s annual fundraising event, will center its efforts on mental health challenges faced by individuals affected by war and crisis. The event is scheduled to take place in Linköping from November 30 to December 6, broadcasting continuously for 144 hours. It is organized by Radiohjälpen in collaboration with P3 and SVT, featuring three hosts in a glass booth and participation from Sweden’s top artists and celebrities.
The theme focuses on addressing the often-invisible psychological suffering that accompanies physical destruction during humanitarian crises. Kristina Henschen, Secretary General of Radiohjälpen, emphasized the importance of supporting dignity, hope, and mental well-being, stating that “in wars and disasters, the struggle is not only for physical survival but also for dignity, hope, and mental well-being. It is about being able to care for one's children, daring to sleep through the night, and believing that life can continue.”
Funds raised during the week-long event will be used to provide psychosocial support, create safe spaces, and support activities for children and youth to aid recovery and strengthen social connections for those affected by trauma and insecurity. Linköping’s municipal leaders, including Kristina Edlund, chair of the municipal council, highlighted how the theme resonates locally, fostering discussions and solidarity among residents from diverse backgrounds, including those with direct experiences of war, trauma, and displacement.
Approximately one in five people affected by crises or war experience long-term mental health issues, underscoring the global importance of this initiative. The event encourages public participation through various activities, including workplace fundraising and community engagement, as Linköping comes together to support this critical cause.
Last year’s Musikhjälpen raised nearly 75 million SEK to support children’s right to education, demonstrating the event’s strong impact. Linköping previously hosted Musikhjälpen in 2015 with a focus on climate refugees, adding a historic layer to this year’s mental health emphasis.
