Murder Investigations Launched in Stockholm and Katrineholm Following Discovery of Dead Individuals

Authorities in Sweden have initiated separate murder investigations following the discovery of deceased individuals in Stockholm and outside Katrineholm on January 22, 2026. In western Stockholm, police responded to a residence where a person was found dead on Thursday afternoon. The police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl stated that the cause and timing of death remain unknown. An individual has been arrested in connection with the case, with police noting a close relationship between the deceased and the arrested person. Investigators are conducting a technical examination of the scene and seeking witnesses in the neighborhood through door-to-door inquiries.

Similarly, outside Katrineholm, a woman's body was found at a residence, prompting police to initiate a preliminary murder investigation. A man has been arrested in connection with this case as well. Police spokesperson Olle Älveroth indicated that while authorities have not confirmed whether the arrested man and the deceased woman had any relationship, this aspect is under investigation.
