Murder Investigation Launched After 18-Year-Old Hanna's Disappearance in Uddevalla

Hanna, an 18-year-old woman, has been missing since January 6, 2026, after last being seen in central Uddevalla. In response, police have launched a murder investigation to expand their search capabilities despite no concrete evidence pointing to a crime as of yet. This step was taken to intensify efforts and utilize broader resources.

Clothing believed to belong to Hanna was found in a recreational area south of Uddevalla, discovered by members of the public. Police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg confirmed these items have been verified as hers. The discovery prompted a large-scale search operation involving helicopters, drones, trained dogs, and support from the military and the Missing People organization.

Martin Öhman, police area chief for Västra Fyrbodal, highlighted that while there is no evidence of foul play, the murder investigation helps "broaden their resources and search efforts." The police have been actively receiving numerous tips since Hanna's disappearance and released her description to assist the public: she has long, light blonde hair, stands approximately 166 centimeters tall, and was last seen wearing jeans and a brown sweater.

The police are urging anyone with information to contact emergency services at 112 or the non-emergency line 114 14. Local home guards have also been involved to assist with the ongoing search. Despite the grim context, authorities maintain cautious optimism as the search continues.
