Several Swedish politicians have recently resigned from their positions amid multiple controversies and investigations, shaking local political landscapes in 2026.

Stina Isaksson, a leader of the Sweden Democrats (SD) in Hylte, faced intense criticism and calls to resign after distributing flyers in Swedish, Arabic, Somali, and Albanian that urged citizens to stop social services from taking children into custody. The flyers were accused of spreading misinformation about social services' child custody actions. Alexander Ojanne, a committee member in the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, publicly refused to work with Isaksson, condemning her actions as damaging to the trust and reputation of social service governance. Isaksson withdrew the flyers but maintained concerns about how social services involve the police in custody cases, a stance Ojanne countered as irresponsible and factually incorrect.

Meanwhile, Nicklas Haglund, a Christian Democrat politician from Ljusdal, resigned after investigative reporting revealed he had purchased Nazi propaganda materials, including books and white power music.
