Valborg celebrations across Sweden on May 1, 2026, were overshadowed by several incidents of violence, injuries, and public disorder. In Stockholm's Rålambshovsparken, a young girl and a field assistant were injured by rockets, prompting police to urge parents to ensure their children return home safely. Several youths were detained following these incidents. Additionally, in Alvesta, four people were hospitalized after a bonfire-related accident caused by flammable liquid being thrown into the fire, leading to reckless endangerment charges.

Uppsala saw a significant number of intoxicated individuals, with 96 people taken into custody during the festivities. In Västmanland, 25 people, including 13 minors at a traditional cruising event in Sala, were detained for various offenses. Police in Skåne addressed disturbances at a large youth gathering in Sibbarp, where high intoxication levels caused disorder.

In Norrköping, a suspected shooting resulted in one injury, further adding to the night’s turmoil. Despite these incidents, official celebrations also took place, including a King’s birthday service, where Queen Silvia’s speech moved Crown Princess Victoria to tears.
