MTAB Advances Multi-Fuel Strategy to Lead Sustainable Logistics in Scandinavia and Europe

The logistics sector's growing climate challenges have prompted MTAB, a specialist in transporting sensitive and valuable goods, to adopt a comprehensive multi-fuel approach aimed at reducing emissions and boosting competitiveness. Simon Fors, MTAB's CEO, explained that the company employs a diversified fuel mix tailored to the variety of their logistics operations—from local deliveries in Stockholm to international routes such as trips to Paris. This strategy includes the use of electric vehicles for local transport, biogas for broader European routes, and HVO100, a fossil-free diesel alternative effective in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.

Established in 1968, MTAB operates across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland, maintaining a fleet of 75 vehicles, 200 employees, and annual revenues of approximately 31.5 million euros. To complement its fuel diversification, MTAB is also investing in energy-efficient storage facilities and self-generated electricity. Its Stockholm warehouse showcases geothermal heating and a large solar panel installation, underscoring the company’s commitment to broader sustainability practices.

Fors highlighted that while many companies discuss sustainability, MTAB focuses on tangible results that benefit daily operations, customers, and society at large. The gradual replacement and supplementation of the vehicle fleet with sustainable options require substantial planning and investment but promise significant long-term benefits. Notably, MTAB believes that customers increasingly prefer partners who demonstrate responsibility for their environmental impact, which enhances the company’s competitive positioning.
