Michael Maze Named New Head Coach of Swedish Men's Table Tennis Team

Michael Maze, the celebrated former Danish table tennis player, has been appointed as the new head coach of the Swedish men's table tennis team. Maze, 44, replaces Marcus Sjöberg, who will take on a different role within the Swedish Table Tennis Federation starting October 31. Known for his distinguished playing career, Maze has earned medals at the Olympics, World Championships, and European Championships, including a gold medal in singles at the 2009 European Championships.

Expressing pride and enthusiasm for his new role, Maze emphasized his excitement to work with some of the world's elite players and contribute to the storied culture of Swedish table tennis. Emma Persson, the national team manager, highlighted the importance of Maze's international experience and leadership qualities in their choice. She noted that the team sought a coach who could understand the challenges faced by both current players and emerging stars, and appreciated Maze's ongoing education in leadership and pedagogy.
