Melodifestivalen 2026 Lineup Revealed with Mixed Reactions

The artist lineup for Melodifestivalen 2026 was officially announced at a press conference by SVT, featuring 30 performers who will compete starting January 31 in Linköping, with the final scheduled for March 7 in Stockholm. The competition will select Sweden's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. Among the debutants are Indra, who rose to fame in Idol 2020; the duo Noll2; and Junior Lerin, notable for previous participation in 'Let's Dance'. Returning contestants include Robin Bengtsson, former winner, and Felicia, formerly known as Fröken Snusk. The iconic A-Teens, known for their earlier Abba tribute acts, will also perform.

Despite this excitement, critics like Markus Larsson have expressed skepticism, suggesting the reveal lacked the thrilling surprise of previous years due to widespread leaks of participant names. Larsson humorously questioned Junior Lerin's unexpected inclusion, while also noting the rebranding of familiar artists and the nostalgic return of Brandsta City Släckers. Producer Karin Gunnarsson expressed enthusiasm about the record-breaking 3,888 entries submitted, the highest ever in Melodifestivalen history.

The lineup promises a diverse range of music styles, including veteran performers like Medina, up-and-comers such as Saga Ludvigsson, and unique acts like hip-hop character Lilla Al-Fadji and American Song Contest winner Alexa.
