Malmö FF has officially terminated the contract of head coach Henrik Rydström following a disappointing run of results, capped by a 2-1 defeat to Bulgarian side Ludogorets in the Europa League. This decision places Anes Mravac in charge as the club seeks to halt its decline, sitting sixth in the Allsvenskan, 18 points behind league leaders Mjällby. Chairman Anders Pålsson cited a discernible decline in performance as the rationale for Rydström's dismissal.

In his first public remarks after being let go, Rydström expressed his dissatisfaction with the club’s decision, stating plainly, "I think nothing of MFF's decision," reflecting on the emotional difficulty surrounding such dismissals. Despite mixed results, Rydström's tenure included notable achievements, such as winning two Swedish championships and a cup title within his two years at the helm.

Mravac, who joined the team's coaching staff earlier this year, was selected for the interim role, tasked immediately with preparing the team for their upcoming match against Värnamo. He emphasized his familiarity with the players and the pressing need for effective training going forward. Rydström’s mixed legacy, characterized by initial success but later struggles, highlights the intense scrutiny and expectations surrounding Malmö FF, accustomed to being at the forefront of Swedish football.
