Malmö FF has officially terminated the contract of head coach Henrik Rydström due to a string of disappointing performances that have left the club in sixth place in Allsvenskan. The decision, confirmed on Friday morning, follows a series of unsatisfactory results that have resulted in the club's worst points average in 16 years, prompting criticism and a reevaluation of the team's direction.

Club chairman Anders Pålsson attributed the dismissal to ongoing poor results and a fading confidence in Rydström's coaching staff. Despite Rydström's successes, including two SM-gold titles and a cup win, the latter part of the season has seen Malmö struggle significantly. Pålsson noted that the overall environment for the coaches had become challenging, despite the players maintaining trust in Rydström up until the end.

Sports director Daniel Andersson elaborated that the board made the decision the night before, emphasizing the need for a new voice to reinvigorate the squad as the season closes. "It was time for a change to rejuvenate the team's energy and perspective," Andersson stated.
