Malmö Festival Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Diverse Cultural Programs

The upcoming Malmö Festival, which marks its 40th anniversary, promises an exciting lineup of cultural events scheduled from August 9 to August 15, 2025. Among the highlights, Malmö Stadsteater will host a series of free lunch programs in its inner courtyard, running from August 13 to 15. Each program, starting at 1 PM, will carry unique themes, beginning with 'Kärlekshistorier' (Love Stories) on August 13, featuring actress Mari Götesdotter and pianist Oscar Johansson.

Following this, August 14 will showcase poetry-themed performances with 'Fröding var en hipp poet,' bringing the works of Gustaf Fröding to life through song and verse, led by actress Katarina Lundgren-Hugg. The series will culminate on August 15 with an engaging conversation featuring a secret guest, directed by theater director Petra Brylander, focusing on themes of life and artistic expression.

In addition to theater, the festival will include a newly introduced initiative called Malmö Talks, featuring eight sessions with prominent Malmö personalities. Hosted by Susanna Dzamic at the Hippodromen, these discussions aim to cover a broad range of engaging topics. Furthermore, the festival will delight music lovers with a collaborative concert on August 9 at 4 PM, presenting music from the musical 'Vem fan säger "emba"?'. This vibrant array of activities underscores Malmö's rich cultural heritage and community spirit as it celebrates this significant milestone in the festival's history.
