Macron's Visit to Sweden Boosts Defense Ties with Frigate Deal and Potential Missile Offer

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Stockholm on August 31, 2026, in a visit underscoring deepening defense cooperation between France and Sweden. His plane was escorted by two Swedish JAS Gripen fighter jets as it landed, highlighting the significance of the occasion. Macron met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to sign a major agreement for Sweden to purchase four advanced French frigates.
