Life Sentence Confirmed for Gang-Related Murder in Husby

Karim Alaa Hussain, 34, has had his life sentence confirmed by Svea Court of Appeal for the murder of a 65-year-old store owner in Husby, Stockholm. The victim, who was related to the notorious gang leader Rawa Majid, was shot six times at his travel agency in January 2025. After the attack, Hussain fled but was pursued by police, leading to a shootout where he fired shots at officers and a witness before being apprehended.

The court upheld Hussain’s conviction for both murder and attempted murder. While the attack is widely viewed as a revenge killing connected to gang conflicts, including previous accusations and related murders within the criminal network, authorities have not definitively established a clear motive.

The incident began a year ago when Hussain opened fire on the victim’s chest, and despite the violent police encounter during his arrest, no officers or witnesses were injured.
