Liberalerna Faces Historic Low Voter Support at 1.4%, Described as "Catastrophic"

The Swedish Liberal party, Liberalerna, has recorded a historic low in voter support, according to a recent opinion poll by Ekot/Indikator. The poll, conducted between January 11 and 25 with 4,349 respondents, shows Liberalerna's support at a mere 1.4%, marking the lowest level ever recorded for an established parliamentary party in Sweden. Per Oleskog Tryggvason, the party's opinion chief, labeled the figures as "katastrofsiffror" (catastrophic).

In contrast, the Centerpartiet has experienced a positive shift, now polling at 5.3%, surpassing the electoral threshold after previously hovering below four percent. Meanwhile, Miljöpartiet's support decreased to 4.7%, just below the threshold for parliamentary representation. Kristdemokraterna also fell below the threshold, with a support rate of 3.9%.

Other major parties maintain robust standings: Socialdemokraterna leads with 35.4%, followed by Sverigedemokraterna at 21.4%, Moderaterna at 18.9%, and Vänsterpartiet at 7.5%. The dramatic drop of Liberalerna reflects significant shifts in Sweden's political landscape ahead of upcoming elections.
