Kristianstad Clinches Historic Tenth Swedish Handball Championship

Kristianstad has secured their tenth Swedish men's handball championship title by defeating Malmö 41-38 in the decisive fourth match of the final series on May 29, 2026. The victory concluded the best-of-five series with a 3-1 score in favor of Kristianstad, marking their first championship win since 2023.

The final match, held at Malmö Arena, was fiercely contested with Malmö pressing hard despite Kristianstad taking control from the fifth minute. Axel Månsson was instrumental in Kristianstad’s triumph, scoring 12 goals, while teammate Einar Adalsteinsson added 10. Malmö’s Nikola Roganovic stood out with an impressive 13 goals, a major improvement from previous games, but it was not enough to secure the win.

The team expressed immense joy and emphasized their collective effort. Månsson reflected, "Helt underbart. Vi vinner cupen, ligan och guldet. Helt otroligt," celebrating the sweep of the cup, league, and championship titles. Fellow player Einar Adalsteinsson added, "Vi är bästa laget, så är det. Det är mycket jobb bakom detta."

Philip Henningsson noted the intensity of the match, stating, "It was a crazy match. We didn’t get a grip on them until the last minutes when we had a bit of luck. But maybe you need that too; it’s the small things that decide." The victory solidifies Kristianstad as a dominant force in Swedish handball and highlights their strong team unity, proudly acknowledged by right wing Albin Nilsson Selin.
