Kia Launches New Sportage Plug-In Hybrid in Sweden with Advanced Features

Kia has introduced the updated Sportage Plug-In Hybrid to the Swedish market in 2025, marking a significant redesign and technological upgrade of its best-selling midsize SUV. The Sportage, which has sold over 7 million units globally, is now available exclusively as an all-wheel-drive (AWD) plug-in hybrid in Sweden, offered in three trims: Action, Advance, and GT Line.

The model embraces Kia's 'Opposites United' design philosophy, featuring bold styling elements such as Star Map LED daytime running lights and redesigned front and rear profiles, with wheel sizes of 17 and 19 inches. Inside, the cabin offers enhanced luxury with a minimalist dashboard, a two-spoke steering wheel, and hidden air vents. The GT Line trim adds premium suede imitation and synthetic leather upholstery.

Space is generous, providing over a meter of rear legroom and up to 1,715 liters of cargo space with seats down. Technological highlights include dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays, a 10-inch head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Kia Connect with wireless over-the-air updates, Digital Key 2.0, and advanced driver assistance systems such as Highway Driving Assist 2 and blind-spot monitoring with digital cluster display.

The powertrain pairs a 1.6 T-GDI turbo gasoline engine with a 79 kW electric motor, delivering a combined 288 hp (212 kW). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and offers an electric range of up to 65 km (WLTP), supported by a 13.8 kWh battery. The SUV can tow up to 1,210 kg. Production takes place at Kia's Slovakian plant, with the first units already arriving at Swedish dealerships.
