Timrå IK and Malmö Redhawks, two prominent teams in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), are dealing with significant player injuries at a pivotal point in the 2025 season. Timrå’s star defenseman Marcus Hardegård has broken his foot during a match against Rögle while blocking a shot, sidelining him for an estimated four weeks, according to team doctor Christian Rydin. This period will see Timrå play 11 matches leading up to the November break, with important away games against Örebro and Malmö. Currently fourth in the SHL standings, Timrå has promoted Linus Nässén to the first defensive pairing in Hardegård’s absence. Meanwhile, Malmö faces setbacks with defender Patrik Norén, who suffered a new head injury following a recent tackle during a home game versus Leksand. Norén, who began the season still rehabilitating from a prior season-ending injury, is undergoing further evaluation with X-ray results pending. Head coach Tomas Kollar emphasized prioritizing Norén's full recovery, noting that his return could be delayed until after the November break. Defenseman Seth Barton also sustained an injury, prompting Malmö to recall prospect Felix Carell from loan at Kalmar HC to strengthen the defense.
