Jonas Berglund, a celebrated 34-year-old center for Luleå Hockey, is confronting a serious health crisis that threatens to end his professional hockey career. Diagnosed with double herniated discs in his back, Berglund’s future in the sport has become uncertain, prompting concerns from fans and teammates alike.

Berglund, who has had a significant impact on Luleå Hockey, particularly during their triumphant championship run last season, may have to undergo invasive surgery. Mattias Waaranperä, Luleå Hockey’s physical manager, expressed the grim outlook: “So he will probably not be able to play anymore and will likely have to end his career.” This assertion underscores the severity of Berglund's condition and its ramifications for his playing future.

Over the past season, Berglund's back pain intensified, especially with the demanding game schedule, which left him little time to recover between matches. He sought advice from a spine specialist in Stockholm, where he learned about the extent of his injury.
