In a significant leadership change, Johan Menckel has been appointed as the new CEO and President of LKAB, with the transition taking place in the first half of 2026. Menckel, who is currently Vice President and Investment Manager at Latour AB, has previously demonstrated his leadership capabilities as the CEO of Gränges AB and has held board positions with companies such as Saab AB and Securitas AB. His extensive experience has garnered the confidence of LKAB’s board, as noted by chairman Anders Borg, who believes Menckel will successfully build upon the company's strong industry position.

Menckel, a 54-year-old civil engineer from KTH, highlighted the crucial role LKAB plays in addressing climate challenges and promoting self-sufficiency in Europe. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the company during such pivotal times, emphasizing its potential impact on various industrial value chains. Current CEO Jan Moström will remain in his position until Menckel officially takes over. Menckel, who is married and a father of four, will be based at LKAB's headquarters in Luleå.
