Johan Dahlin Extends Malmö Contract Amid ACL Injury Recovery

Veteran goalkeeper Johan Dahlin has signed a contract extension with Malmö FF through the 2026 season, despite being sidelined for nearly a year due to an ACL injury. At 39 years old, Dahlin—who will turn 40 by the end of the upcoming season—is Malmö’s most experienced active player with over 400 matches played. He has won the Swedish championship seven times with the club.

Dahlin acknowledged that his role within the team may evolve as he returns from injury, focusing on mentoring younger goalkeepers while still aiming to compete in several matches. Malmö FF’s sports director, Daniel Andersson, praised Dahlin’s invaluable presence both on and off the field, emphasizing his ability to provide security and leadership to the squad.

Despite the challenges posed by his injury, Dahlin expressed optimism about resuming full training and contributing to Malmö’s success in 2026. Daniel Andersson noted that with a healthy Dahlin, Malmö FF benefits from a strong goalkeeping lineup moving forward.
