Joel Kjetselberg Returns as FC Rosengård Head Coach After Tough Season

Joel Kjetselberg has been reinstated as the head coach of FC Rosengård just 128 days after his dismissal in September 2025. His departure followed a difficult season where the team struggled near the bottom of the Damallsvenskan, finishing 11th and narrowly avoiding relegation by two points. Despite the challenges, Kjetselberg’s prior tenure was marked by remarkable success; in 2024, he led Rosengård to an SM championship with a near-perfect record of 25 wins out of 26 matches, scoring 99 goals while conceding only nine.

Following a disappointing 2025 season where Rosengård failed to improve after his exit, the club decided to bring Kjetselberg back. Caroline Seger, Head of Football at FC Rosengård, praised Kjetselberg as a "super competent coach" with exceptional football intellect and a well-liked personality, underscoring his importance to the club.

Kjetselberg expressed great enthusiasm for his return and the 2026 season, stating, "I feel incredibly hungry!" while reflecting privately on the past year’s struggles and challenges. His return signals the club's ambition to recover from the setbacks of 2025 and compete strongly once again in Swedish women’s football and European competitions.
