Jean-Marc Chabloz to Leave Swedish Biathlon Team After 2026 Season

Jean-Marc Chabloz, the shooting coach for the Swedish biathlon team since 2020, announced his decision to leave the national team following the 2026 season. He will conclude his tenure at the upcoming World Cup events in Holmenkollen, which he described as his "last dance" with the team. Reflecting on his departure, Chabloz shared mixed emotions, stating, "I feel I am leaving with the flag at the top and incredible pride." The demanding nature of the job, particularly the long periods away from home, influenced his choice to step down.

Chabloz plans to pursue a new opportunity as a site manager on a farm in Jämtland, calling it a dream job he is passionate about. His departure comes shortly after Johannes Lukas, the head coach of the Swedish biathlon team, extended his contract for another four years.

In response to Chabloz's exit, athletes such as Anna Magnusson and Hanna Öberg expressed emotional reactions, acknowledging the significant role he played in their development. Meanwhile, the team is considering potential replacements, with Finnish coach Jonne Kähkönen—recently leaving the Italian national team—being contacted as a candidate to fill the shooting coach position.
