Jakob Ihs-Wozniak Loaned from Luleå to Björklöven for 2025 Season

Jakob Ihs-Wozniak, an 18-year-old forward lauded as one of Sweden's top hockey talents, has been loaned from Luleå to Björklöven for the remainder of the 2025 season. The move strengthens Björklöven, currently leading in Hockeyallsvenskan, as they prepare for upcoming fixtures, including a home match against Almtuna.

Standing at 190 cm and weighing 86 kg, Ihs-Wozniak is recognized as a powerful and modern offensive player. He has already made 13 appearances this season in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Luleå but will now play exclusively with Björklöven. Despite the loan, Luleå retains the right to recall him in the event of injuries.

Ihs-Wozniak's potential is underlined by his selection as the 55th overall pick in the NHL Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights, marking a historical moment as the first Australian-born player in the SHL and the first to be drafted into the NHL. He is also a candidate for Sweden's Juniorkronorna team in the upcoming World Junior Championship (JVM).

Björklöven's sports manager, Per Kenttä, expressed excitement about adding Ihs-Wozniak, praising him for possessing "a wonderful toolbox" of skills that the team plans to leverage. Ihs-Wozniak's contract with Luleå runs through the 2026/2027 season, but this loan arrangement aims to provide him with more playing time and development opportunities this year.
