Isabelle Haak’s Record 52-Point Performance Powers Sweden’s Dramatic Comeback to EM Playoffs

The Swedish women's volleyball team secured their spot in the European Championship (EM) playoffs with a remarkable comeback victory against Croatia, overturning a 0-2 set deficit to win 3-2 in a thrilling match at Scandinavium. The star of the match, Isabelle Haak, delivered an exceptional performance by scoring a record-breaking 52 points, surpassing her previous EM record by ten points.

Sweden started struggling as Croatia took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-22. However, driven by Haak's relentless scoring, Sweden turned the tide by winning the third set 25-19, which clinched their playoff qualification. They dominated the fourth set 25-16, setting up a tightly contested fifth set. Sweden showcased incredible resilience, saving five match points before clinching the deciding set 23-21, with Linda Andersson sealing the victory with an ace.

This win marks Sweden's best group stage performance in EM history, guaranteeing at least a third-place finish and qualifying them for the knockout rounds in Brno, Czech Republic.
