Internal Turmoil in Moderaterna Danderyd as Key Members Challenge Leadership of Johanna Hornberger

The Moderaterna party in Danderyd is currently facing a significant internal conflict, spurred by a loss of confidence among all moderate committee chairpersons toward their municipal council leader Johanna Hornberger. The unrest is led by Robert Nibelius, who has called for a vote of no confidence against Hornberger. Nibelius alleges that Hornberger attempted to oust him from his role as chairman of the technical committee, which he recently paused due to conflict of interest accusations.

The dissent is supported by five moderate members, including notable figures such as Ulla Hurtig Nielsen and Claës Breitholtz, representing a considerable faction within the party. They expressed that reconciliation efforts have failed and emphasized the necessity of resolving this issue to serve their constituents effectively. Despite this, the group has not nominated a successor to Hornberger.

Johanna Hornberger, who was elected by the moderate group to lead the municipal council with unanimous vote and is set to guide the party into the 2026 elections, has not responded to media inquiries regarding the criticisms. Party group leader Christian Hoas highlighted that the party's priority remains maintaining public trust and stable governance in Danderyd.
