Intensive Search Underway for Missing 80-Year-Old Woman in Uppsala

An extensive search operation is currently underway for an 80-year-old woman who went missing in Stavby, Uppsala Municipality, after she failed to return from a walk on Sunday morning. The woman, described as likely wearing blue jeans, a sweater, a red cap, and green rubber boots, left her home at 10:30 AM and was reported missing by her family approximately six hours later.

The police have launched a significant search effort that includes patrols, drones, and even a helicopter, although adverse weather conditions have limited aerial visibility. According to police spokesperson Mikael Hedström, the search radius extends five kilometers from her home, complicating their efforts due to the challenging terrain.

Current investigations suggest that the woman may have taken a bus towards Öregrund, prompting police to request that residents from both Stavby and the nearby Östhammars kommun keep an eye out for her. They have emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging locals to check their properties, including any basements or outbuildings, for signs of the missing woman. As it stands, authorities have noted that there is currently no evidence indicating foul play in her disappearance.
