Swedish cross-country skiing faced a challenging finale at the 2026 Winter Olympics as illness forced top athletes Frida Karlsson and Jonna Sundling to withdraw from the highly anticipated 50-kilometer race. This unexpected setback left only two Swedish competitors, Ebba Andersson and Emma Ribom, to contest the event. National team chief Anders Byström expressed regret about the diminished representation, acknowledging the gut-wrenching disappointment of competing with a limited lineup.
