IFK Göteborg Enhances Security Amid Rising Threats Against Officials

Following the alarming threats made against officials of IFK Göteborg, heightened security measures have been implemented, including police protection for key figures within the club. Club director Håkan Mild is now under such protection after fan-related conflicts escalated, particularly surrounding a recent match boycott. The increased security presence around the team's training facility, Kamratgården, is a direct response to these unfolding events.

The unrest began after a disagreement over the removal of an overhead flag by club staff at a home game against Brommapojkarna, leading to fan boycotts and calls for Mild's resignation. According to reports, tensions rose to a point where some supporters directed threats towards Mild, prompting police intervention. Notably, Mild has previously been a target of threats, with a conviction in the past related to these incidents.

In addition to the direct threats against Mild, three individuals already under investigation for making unlawful threats have now been charged with aggravated assault and other unspecified crimes. Prosecutor Mats Ihlbom confirmed the seriousness of these developments, indicating that while the charges are primarily sports-related, they may also encompass other offenses. This investigation has expanded to include more suspects, suggesting a potentially broader issue affecting club officials.

Kalle Ahlqvist, legal representative for the accused, has voiced his skepticism about the validity of the allegations, stating that they lack substantial evidence.
