Idrottsgalan 2026 Celebrates Sweden's Top Sporting Achievements with Major Awards

The Idrottsgalan 2026, held on January 21 and hosted by Carolina Klüft, honored Sweden's foremost athletes and teams for their outstanding achievements in the past year. Armand Duplantis was named Årets manlige idrottare, receiving multiple awards for his record-breaking performances in athletics. Jonna Sundling was awarded Årets kvinnliga idrottare and also won the prestigious Radiosportens Jerringpris, voted by the public, following a remarkable year where she secured three gold medals and one bronze at the World Championships in Trondheim. In her acceptance speech for the Jerringpriset, Sundling thanked the Swedish people, her coaches, and her parents, highlighting her comeback during the women's relay.

The Årets nykomling award was presented to beach volleyball players Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson, who recently earned a World Championship silver. Greg and Helena Duplantis received the Årets ledare award for their exceptional coaching and guidance of their son Mondo Duplantis. Mjällby AIK claimed Årets Lag after a historic 2025 season culminating in an Allsvenskan title with a new points record. Other winners included David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig, honored with Svenska Dagbladets Bragdguld for their beach volleyball success, Daniel Ståhl for Årets prestation, and Marika Domanski Lyfors, who received the Sportspegelpriset for her pioneering contributions to women's football despite facing a serious brain tumor. Veteran athlete Anders Gärderud was awarded the Svenska idrottsakademins hederspris.

The event highlighted a wide spectrum of Swedish sports excellence across disciplines, reflecting both individual brilliance and team successes.
