Ica Maxi has announced impressive sales growth for the fiscal year ending in early 2025, with a record increase of 15.7% amounting to approximately 6.4 billion SEK. This growth has solidified Ica Maxi's position as Sweden's dominant grocery retailer, even amidst stiff competition from other supermarket chains like Willys and Lidl.
The store in Haninge, south of Stockholm, distinguished itself by becoming the largest grocery store in Sweden, reaching nearly 1.3 billion SEK in sales. Other locations also demonstrated significant performance, with Ica Maxi Boglundsängen in Örebro increasing its sales by approximately 101 million SEK to 830 million SEK, and the Jönköping store surpassing 1.1 billion SEK with an increase of over 99 million SEK.
New establishments, including a store in Österåker, have further contributed to this growth, generating 186 million SEK during its first full year. Additionally, Ica Maxi's operating margin improved from 3.7% to 4.1%, attributing this success to effective management and enhanced customer engagement strategies, despite the low-margin nature of the grocery industry. Retail analyst Jonas Arnberg acknowledged the significance of expanding from such a high sales level, highlighting the robust operational strategies in place.
As the fiscal year progresses, Ica Maxi continues to focus on its competitive positioning and customer satisfaction, creating optimism for further growth in the coming years.
