Four Young Men Charged with Racist Motivated Violent Attacks in Stockholm

Four men aged between 20 and 24 have been charged with multiple violent offenses in Stockholm, allegedly driven by racist hate linked to far-right extremist affiliations. The attacks took place on the night of August 27, 2023, targeting individuals of foreign descent in unprovoked assaults across central Stockholm.

According to Chief Prosecutor Gustav Andersson, the accused are charged with robbery, threats, and aggravated assault committed throughout the same night, including an incident on the subway. Surveillance footage and photos show some of the suspects making Nazi salutes during the incidents, underpinning the hate crime motive. Police searches of the suspects' homes uncovered materials and symbols that confirm their ties to far-right and Nazi-affiliated activist groups.

The prosecution emphasizes that the victims, none of whom are connected to each other, were chosen solely because of their ethnic or racial background. Andersson described the violent acts as entirely unprovoked with the explicit intent to demean victims based on race, skin color, or national or ethnic origin.
