Four Charged in Connection to Execution-Style Shooting in Fruängen, Stockholm

Four individuals have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Fruängen, Stockholm, in March 2025, where one teenager died and three others were wounded. The incident occurred in a tunnel where four teenage boys were shot, with one victim fatally struck in the head and later succumbing to his injuries in hospital.

The 16-year-old suspect, who was apprehended shortly after the shooting by police, has been formally charged with murder and attempted murder. He was found carrying a pistol that matched the nine shell casings retrieved from the scene. Additionally, prosecutors have charged three others with serious criminal assistance for arranging a taxi that facilitated the shooter's escape.

Senior prosecutor Ingrid Viklund described the attack as a "pure execution," emphasizing the close-range nature of the gunfire. The swift police response, underpinned by surveillance footage, was crucial in the quick apprehension of the accused 16-year-old.

Despite the strong evidence, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The investigation suggests the shooting may have been ordered by external parties, but the instigator has yet to be identified. Furthermore, the 16-year-old suspect is also linked to a separate attempted murder earlier in March in Rinkeby and other serious criminal activity.

The case is set to proceed to trial in early December. The tragic event highlights the ongoing challenge of gang-related violence in Stockholm and underscores the police and prosecutorial efforts to hold those accountable for such violent acts.
