Fossilfritt Sverige Champions Electric Flight and Emission-Free Transport in Östersund

Fossilfritt Sverige, alongside Östersunds kommun and Klimatneutrala Östersund 2030, recently hosted a full day event in Östersund dedicated to advancing fossil-free and climate-neutral initiatives. The day began at Åre Östersund Airport with the launch of Green Flyways, a joint electric flight strategy aimed at establishing a regional corridor to support electric aviation, facilitate sustainable travel, and bolster energy and community development.

Subsequent discussions at Rådhuset emphasized the necessity of increasing demand for emission-free machinery and electric trucks. While the technology exists, speakers stressed that creating clear demand is essential to accelerate adoption and support the business sector’s climate efforts.

The event culminated with “An Evening for Climate” at Gamla teatern, featuring national Fossilfritt Sverige coordinator Svante Axelsson, artist Magnus Carlson, a youth panel, and representatives from companies committed to the Klimatlöftet pledge in Jämtlands län. This gathering fostered reflections on climate transition at various scales, underscoring a message of hope, swift progress, and the crucial role of collaboration in achieving climate goals.

The event highlighted how regional and national actors in Sweden are joining forces to implement practical steps toward a sustainable, fossil-free future, combining technological innovation with community engagement and business cooperation.
