Former Sweden Democrats Politician and Ex-Politician Face Child Pornography and Sexual Charges

Two former politicians linked to Sweden Democrats face serious legal charges related to child exploitation. One, a man in his mid-20s, stands trial at Västmanlands tingsrätt on grave child pornography charges, involving possession of extensive abusive material. During a closed-door trial, it was revealed the accused possessed four images and 581 videos of child pornography, with 540 videos totaling nearly 98 hours classified as 'especially heinous abuse material.' The prosecution emphasized the severity due to the quantity and the nature of the content, depicting very young children subjected to violence or coercion. The accused confessed but his lawyer argued it should not be classified as gross child pornography. The charges stemmed from a police raid on March 19, 2025, following a tip from German authorities about his activity on a child pornography website. The man has cited psychological issues and a religious perspective in his defense, calling his behavior an addiction and expressing remorse.

Separately, an ex-politician in his 50s was convicted of engaging in inappropriate sexual chats with 14-year-olds, including sending a naked image of himself and expressing a desire to meet them. Arrested in early 2022 after a parent found disturbing conversations on their child's phone, he was initially convicted in a lower court and appealed. The appeals court upheld the guilty verdict on all counts but allowed him to avoid community service.

These cases highlight ongoing legal actions involving former Sweden Democrats politicians concerning child exploitation. Both individuals face significant legal consequences while their cases have raised awareness about the severity of such offenses and the judicial approach in Sweden. The accused in the first case has been suspended from party and political duties pending trial results.
