Fire Erupts at Gothenburg Hotel, Prompting Major Evacuation

A fully developed fire broke out on the fourth floor of a hotel in the Gårda district of Gothenburg on the afternoon of September 19, 2025, leading to a significant emergency response. Firefighters promptly arrived on the scene to combat the blaze, which prompted the hotel to initiate evacuation procedures for its guests. Fortunately, police reported no injuries as a result of the incident, and emergency services established a substantial resource deployment both inside and outside the hotel to manage the fire effectively.

According to Fredrik Hjertén from the rescue service, the firefighters began extinguishing efforts as soon as they arrived. Jens Andersson of the police indicated that the hotel's evacuation commenced on the staff's initiative. The police confirmed that all guests were safe and accounted for, though it remains unclear if everyone was successfully evacuated at the time of the fire.

By approximately 5 PM, the fire was reported to have been extinguished. Despite the intensity of the incident, traffic on the nearby E6 highway remained unaffected, with Andersson assuring that there was no need to halt traffic in the area. Authorities have cordoned off the hotel as a precaution while investigations into the cause of the fire begin.
