Explosion in Norrköping Apartment Building Causes Injuries and Extensive Damage

In the early hours of November 23, 2025, an explosion rocked a multi-family residential building on Ljuragatan in Norrköping, causing significant damage and injuring one resident. The blast occurred around 04:44 AM near the entrance of the building, leading to shattered windows and damage on the first and second floors, as well as harm to vehicles parked nearby.

Emergency services responded promptly, with a total of ten rescue units, including fire services and ambulances, arriving at the scene by approximately 04:55 AM. The explosion resulted in extensive glass debris and destruction of the building’s entrance door. Fire officials reported about ten broken windows in the stairwell and several apartments affected.

One person was injured in the incident and transported to hospital; however, authorities confirmed the injuries are not considered serious. The injured individual was inside their apartment when the explosion occurred. Police have established a cordon around the affected area to secure the scene and preserve evidence while investigating the cause of the explosion. At this stage, no suspects have been identified.

Ola Nilsson from SOS Alarm confirmed the presence of emergency units on site, and police spokesperson Martina Gradian noted the incident is being treated as general danger destruction. The fire service is conducting a thorough examination of the stairwell and affected apartments to assess the damage.

The explosion caused alarm among residents, many of whom reported hearing a loud bang early in the morning. Ongoing investigations aim to determine the cause of the explosion to prevent future occurrences and ensure public safety.
