Carl Bergkvist, business policy chief at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that the country’s regulatory framework has not evolved to reflect the demands of today’s dynamic business environment.

Despite these concerns, Migration Minister Johan Forssell has committed to transforming Sweden into the most attractive EU country for highly skilled workers. Under his leadership, the average work permit processing time has dramatically decreased from 103 days to 19 days over the past three years. Forssell acknowledged, however, that some application categories still experience prolonged delays and affirmed his dedication to further reducing processing times to minimize bureaucracy.
