In the first half of 2025, Europafonder in Sweden have seen an extraordinary surge in popularity, achieving record growth metrics. A noteworthy highlight includes a net inflow of 2.2 billion kronor in June, reflecting a positive shift in investor sentiment toward European funds. This trend represents the highest organic growth rate recorded at 43.2%, spurred by favorable fiscal policies from Germany and an uptick in defense spending across Europe, which have encouraged investors to support a potential European economic recovery.
In comparison, global funds (globalfonder) have maintained substantial net inflows, totaling 19.3 billion kronor in June; however, their organic growth rate has dwindled to 4.03%, marking the fourth lowest performance over the past 15 years. Meanwhile, Sverigefonder encountered significant outflows, with 7 billion kronor exiting the category in June, the largest outflow since January 2022. Despite this, Sverigefonder remains robust, ranking as the fourth most net-purchased fund category this year. In stark contrast, US funds have also faced challenges, exhibiting six consecutive months of outflows, culminating in a June loss of 1.1 billion kronor, notably affecting the US-Large Cap Blend Equity category which reported its worst performance in 15 years.
The dramatic shift towards Europafonder suggests a growing confidence among Swedish investors in European economic prospects, amidst concerns over global market fluctuations.
