Eric Norin Leaving AIK: A Shock Delivered via Social Media

Eric Norin, a veteran 33-year-old defenseman, has officially parted ways with AIK after nine seasons, learning the news through an Instagram post. While AIK issued a statement thanking Norin for his contributions, he expressed deep disappointment, highlighting a lack of communication from the club prior to his unexpected release.

Having joined AIK as a junior in 2009, Norin played 369 matches for the club, making him a notable figure in their roster. After concluding the last season, he had been preparing for a potential contract renewal and was aiming to finish his career with the team.

Upon learning about his departure, Norin stated, “I was shocked to find out through social media. I never received any prior communication from the club.” He criticized Lasse Johansson, the club's sports manager, for the inadequate communication regarding his contract status, noting a distinct lack of dialogue since season’s end.

Despite the disappointing end to his time with AIK, Norin expressed gratitude for the support from fans and reflected positively on his tenure at the club. Johansson declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding Norin's departure when approached by the press.
