Emma Holmgren Announces Pregnancy, Delays Football Comeback

Emma Holmgren, the goalkeeper for the Swedish national football team and recently signed Hammarby player, has announced that she is expecting a child with her partner, Fredrik Andersson. The announcement came via her Instagram, where she expressed joy, stating, "We are so incredibly happy." Although Holmgren was part of the Swedish squad during the summer European Championship in Switzerland, she did not participate in any matches as first-choice goalkeeper Jennifer Falk played in all the games.

Holmgren returned to Hammarby in January, after a stint with Levante, but her pregnancy will postpone her playing time. She expressed her anticipation for her return, lamenting, "I was really looking forward to coming home and playing for Bajen. Unfortunately, it will not be this fall, so that comeback will have to wait a bit longer." As she looks ahead, Holmgren hopes to return to the pitch by March 2026. The news has been met with celebrations from teammates, including Fridolina Rolfö and Johanna Rytting-Kaneryd, who have publicly congratulated her on the announcement.
